L.L.Bean is seeking part-time Head Instructor for our Outdoor Discovery School at Sunday River Resort in Bethel, ME. Our school offers Kayak, Fly Fishing/Casting, Archery, Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Geocaching and Hiking.

Our selected leader will be a talented, outdoor enthusiast who possesses proven leadership experience has administrative skills and is eager to share their love and knowledge of outdoor activities. This Leader will communicate with LL Bean's home office team on a daily basis and maintain a high profile with Instructors staff and resort customers.
General
Assist in the implementation of ODS programming and policies for an offsite program
Work independently in a leadership role supporting LL Bean's brand and outdoor life style
Oversees Instructor team of 8-12 at Sunday River
Assist with recruiting, hiring and training
Maintain Instructor schedules and provides weekly payroll information to the ODS Administrator Coordinator
Ensures Instructors deliver a world class outdoor instructional experience consistent with LL.Bean curriculum
Maintains a regular communication link between Sunday River's management team, participants and ODS home office team
Knows and maintains expertise of equipment and products (as relevant) utilized in the Sunday River courses
Health and Safety Requirement
Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions
Demonstrates ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
Understand and consistently perform all responsibilities associated with ODS safety protocols and program procedures.
Confirms all Sunday Rivers equipment used is in appropriate working condition.
Report any unsafe acts or conditions to the appropriate person
Takes immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions
Ensures compliance of front line employees with comprehensive Health and Safety program
Communication
Conducts self at all times according to the highest ethical and moral standards
Represents the teaching profession at its highest level at all times
Represent LLBean brand and role model to staff
Communicates and lives our company core values of Outdoor Heritage, Service, Respect, Integrity, Perseverance, Safe and Healthy Living
Communicate professionally with all stake holders.

Registered Maine Guide
Certification or specialized training in relevant outdoor related activities
Proven experience planning, organizing and leading
Expertise in active gear appropriate for activity
WFA certification/training
Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate personnel
Ability to maintain a high level of enthusiasm, motivation and a positive attitude
Established time management and organization skills
Demonstrated interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Retail Sales experience a plus
Ability to work the 10 week schedule
